Cyprus, an island rich in birds and besieged by concrete by Martin Hellicar
Sponsored by Bloomsbury Publishing
The E Mediterranean island of Cyprus is an important stop-over site for hundreds of thousands of migrant birds and also plays host to some special breeding species, including endemics. But the drive for development – given fresh impetus after the COVID-19 lock down – means safe spaces, resting and breeding places for these fantastic birds are becoming harder and harder to find.
An account and update on efforts by BirdLife Cyprus to ‘hold back the bulldozers’ and a plea for visiting birders to play their part in protecting key sites, especially along the coasts.
This recording will be available on Saturday 22nd August and for 3 months afterwards.
